You may be wondering what is Prosthodontics?

Prosthodontics is a specialty area of dentistry which deals with the diagnosis and prevention of dental disease in addition to the necessary restorative treatment

This field encompasses:

  • Simple fillings
  • Aesthetic restorations such as bonded tooth colored fillings
  • Porcelain veneers
  • Bleaching
  • Crowns (caps)
  • Bridges
  • Dental Implant restoration
  • Partial and full removable dentures
  • Full mouth reconstructions as well as general care.

Why a Prosthodontist ?

Although general dentist provide a lot of prosthodontic services, they do not have extensive training and specialization of a Prosthodontist. In addition to receiving a Dental Degree, a Prosthodontist completes a two year training program in Prosthetic Dentistry.

This concentrated and intense program encompasses all aspects of restorative dentistry, including very sophisticated elements of reconstructive and cosmetic therapy.

The Prosthodontist also receives extensive instruction in all of the specialty areas of dentistry that are essential for comprehensive care.

This additional background makes Dr. Benson uniquely qualified to coordinate therapy with the appropriate specialist  Oral Surgeons, Orthodontists, Periodontist and Endodontist when required.
